Module 1 · Aromatics Fractionation
Recovering a benzene product from a BTX cut: meeting a recovery target and a purity spec at the same time.
Assessment: Recover the benzene product from the BTX cut: at least 95% of the benzene fed must report to the distillate, at ≥98 mol% purity. (pass 70%)
Module 2 · Hydrodealkylation Reaction & Recovery
Running the HDA reactor to meaningful conversion, then quenching and flashing the effluent to recover a benzene-rich crude liquid.
Assessment: Convert toluene to benzene in the adiabatic HDA reactor (≥60% single-pass conversion), then quench and flash the effluent to recover a benzene-rich crude liquid (≥60 mol% benzene). (pass 70%)
Module 3 · Light-Ends Recovery & Recycle
A naphtha-range flash with a recycle loop: recover the light fraction overhead and converge the tear stream.
Assessment: Flash the naphtha-range stream and recover the light fraction overhead while recycling the heavies — confirm the vapor is ≥70 mol% pentane and the loop converges. (pass 70%)
Capstone
Cross-module capstone
Deliver a converged BTX fractionation that recovers ≥97% of the benzene fed to a ≥98 mol% benzene product, leaves ≥98 mol% toluene in the bottoms, and does it with a compact flowsheet (≤ 7 unit operations).
